Chris Lord’s Blues Express
Chris Lord & her Blues Express is a powerful and raunchy Rhythm & Blues 5-piece band. Led by the superb voice of Chris Lord, they blend classic blues with a hint of jazz and a touch of “sauce.” Their lineup includes tenor sax and guitar, all supported by a first-class rhythm section. The band draws influences from early artists like Bessie Smith, Zuzu Bollin, and Big Mama Thornton, as well as more modern exponents like Dana Gillespie and Imelda May.
John Mitchell, a journalist for Blues in Britain Magazine, attended one of their gigs and gave them an excellent review: “Chris Lord and her band was witnessed by a discerning audience who appreciated the fine voice, great musicianship, and an interesting selection of covers: some unusual, some familiar but done with a twist… A fine performance from Chris Lord and her Blues Express, I shall look forward to catching them again.”
Chris Lord fronts the band, delivering cheeky and sometimes rude lyrics with a feminine twist. Her natural and beautiful voice spans from rude blues to blues ballads, always delivering performances full of class, emotion, and simple joy.
