Rhythm is our Business Workshop
Rhythm is our Business
Saturday 29th July – Cotton Club, Bedford
2:45-4:45pm – some dance experience needed
Did you know that Swing + Jive dancing is based almost entirely on the ability to produce rhythm?
So why are you only seeing this topic now?
As anyone can teach swing dancing you will naturally find that ability and skill levels between different teachers varies greatly
We aim to raise awareness and give you some great tools to help you control, express and inhabit rhythm as if you were born to it
As our dancing flows from live music, the ability to create/sing/play music is crucial for any swing dance teacher to be credible in this vital area
We will be using the tap Shim Sham as a teaching aid to help focus the skills we will be developing
All you need are some hard soled shoes a learning attitude and an open mind
The less your think you know, the greater the chances are that we can make a big impact on your capabilities
Because we all need better rhythm this is one area where everyone can improve whether you feel that you’re a beginner, improver, intermediate or advanced
This is a key area that all good musicians work on all the time – dancers should be no different
This workshop will impact all the dancing you will ever do
Topics:
How to measure your natural rhythm?
How to match your rhythm to music?
How to improve your musical feel / flow?
How to make your dancing swing to different swing music?
